Great Day at Wodonga Trials The JSL team were firing on all cylinders at the Wodonga Trials on Monday the 15th June. The trials had been transferred from the original venue, Tatura, a long way to travel to trials but, unfortunately, there are very few trials being scheduled for our region, so one has to do what one has to do! The experience will benefit many of the horses that attended as it was a good learning curve for race day. Daintree Duke's half sister, Flying Sheila, lived up to her reputation (and her name!) when leading shortly after leaving the gates and cruising to a five length victory without even being extended. Bluey's Mist followed and won her trial too, so very exciting to have these two year olds performing so superbly. Zupaone won his trial a second and a half faster than any other trial over that distance on the day, so he's well on the road to a return to the racetracks. Milakai, Mega Miss, and Ponbar Avenue ran second in their trials with Bianco Rossi coming third and Snipatip and Zupacat finishing in fourth place. All these horses are now ready to go to the races as soon as suitable races are available.

At last Sheila and John’s plans to transform the 100 acre property at Seymour into a state of the art thoroughbred training complex is almost complete, and the vision that has energised them for the last 12 months is now a reality. The combination of two training tracks of a combined length of 2300 metres is fully fenced for safety of horses and track riders. Additional new stables with 44 spacious boxes with all safety features provide excellent facilities for your horses. A ten horse-walking machine facilitates the walking of each horse in training twice daily. Twelve day paddocks and seventeen day yards with safety fencing provide the opportunity to give a changing environment for all horses in training. JSL Racing Stables are only a short distance from the Seymour racetrack. Racing Victoria have now completed a $600,000 development of a synthetic track, which is a wax coated sand track with elastic fibre to provide cushion for horses in training. This facility provides an additional option in the preparation of our horses in training. Recently the pool for swimming the horses as part of their training regime was completed and they are now enjoying a cooling swim, which is enhancing their fitness and their ability to win races.
